PlayStation HD on Xbox Sega Revives Dreamcast Games

Sega has, that some of the tracks from his 650-game library from the Dreamcast days will receive an HD facelift announced before the sale on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. The first two titles, Sonic Adventure Crazy Taxi, and are both available for this fall.

The Dreamcast debuted in 1999 as a competitor to Sony’s PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube and Microsoft Xbox. The system sold only 10.6 million units before Sega decided to forego the benefit of the console software in 2002, but the Dreamcast retains a loyal fan base and enjoys a minor cult status.

“The Dreamcast is lovingly by a large community of dedicated fans as a console that was way ahead of its time in terms of graphics, quality and on-line gaming.” Haruki Satomi, vice president of digital business at SEGA of America and SEGA Europe, said in the press release memory. “There are few things that are more of us than that requested Dreamcast classics available for download in today’s digital marketplace. We are delighted to begin our beloved Dreamcast gamers title back to the current console systems.”

No word on what other games can get the HD-treated, but Sega will have both games at its E3 booth.
